Happy Holidays!

Hello Again,

Things will definitely be slowing down for a few weeks. We won’t be able to finish any recordings while our guitarist, Jeff, is in Spain. However a week off of school/work to spend time on whatever our little hearts please will give us ample time to write new material.

Once Jeff gets back from Spain we should have at least two new song skeletons for him to help put flesh and bones on.

In the mean time I did snap a few more photos while we were recording another demo last week. This one only needs bass tracks on it, so once that gets done I’ll post it here.

Happy New Year!

My Body Sings Electric - “Step into the Light” (demo)

Last night we put together another demo while doing pre-production. Doing pre-production on the songs is probably the best thing we could have done so far. It lets you know how your parts need to be fixed so that they can work best on the recording.

We are working out of Nick’s living room and recording everything in Logic Pro. The guitar tones are all done with the built in Amp Designer software that comes with Logic. Personally I think they sound pretty good.

If you want to do your own project I must offer one piece of advice: Invest in some monitors. They don’t have to be great, but it makes everything go much smoother. Anthony Catalano is being kind enough to let us use his set-up.

I opted to record vocals to this track, and they are admittedly a little rough, but this IS only pre-production. This particular track has me REALLY excited to get into an actual studio. I can’t wait to hear it with better production.

I was of course snapping more pictures. Enjoy!

Pre-Production

Hello kiddos!

Kalen broke his hand last week. He needs a few weeks to heal so we are shifting our focus away from jamming out the new songs in the practice room. For the next few weeks we will be working on arrangements for all of the new song ideas.

The process goes like this:

  1. Record a demo version of the song in the form that it currently exists in
  2. Listen carefully to the recording to find what isn’t working
  3. Fix what isn’t working
  4. Start again

It also gives us an idea how we want everything to sound. We are honing in on guitar tones, bass tones, and the overall feel of each song. We are also getting a lot more comfortable with the recording process which is all-important.

It is painstaking, but it is definitely a fun process. I snapped a few photos while we were working. Check them out:
